procuring your perfect system couldn’t be easier
At Thermal Innovations Corporation, we design and fabricate custom ultraviolet curing systems, electric infrared heating systems, and gas infrared heating systems used by customers in the automotive, electrical, heavy equipment, and general manufacturing industries. We deliver high quality, easy-to-install kits that meet a variety of size, material, and throughput requirements.
uv curing systems
UV curable coatings are becoming increasingly popular as an environmentally friendly alternative to solvent-based chemicals. As the market has searched for a suitable alternative to solvent-based coatings, chemical manufacturers have expanded the variety of UV curable options.
Everything from powder coatings to printing inks are now available in UV curable formulas. Curing using ultraviolet requires significantly less time than analogous thermal drying processes. In some cases, throughput can be additionally increased by preheating the coating prior to application. We can work with customers to develop an innovative solution that meets their heating and performance needs.
Since curing is performed through a photochemical reaction, the part is not subjected to the high temperatures required by traditional curing processes. This opens up the possibility of parts that can be coated to heat sensitive materials such as wood and MDF.
Customers in the furniture industry have greatly benefited from our ability to replace laborious and expensive laminating processes with automated UV cured powder coating lines. These solutions not only increase throughput, they increase product quality and significantly reduce scrap rates.
electric infrared heating systems
Utilizing a diverse knowledge base and extensive industry experience, our engineers design equipment for a variety of heating applications. Applications include powder and wet paint curing, bonding, melting, and specialty heating applications. While the heating process is central to what we do, the systems we manufacture are very diverse. Examples of complementary components and systems include equipment for material application and automated part handling.
Custom systems are designed around a given process, not the other way around. The hardware and machinery for an application is only chosen after all parameters of the process have been thoroughly understood. Customers receive equipment that is optimized for their operating conditions and processing needs instead of being forced to adapt to an inefficient heating system. This may include a single heating technology or a combination of heating methods developed for a specific application.
Infrared heating excels in water-based coating applications. With electric IR systems, heat can be delivered very precisely to targeted locations on the part. This makes infrared heating systems ideal for use in modern, environmentally conscious processing systems. In a similar vein, infrared heating only heats the surface of the object, which minimizes heat waste during the curing process. Electric infrared systems require less capital investment and are preferred to gas heating systems for more heat-sensitive material applications.
gas infrared heating systems
Gas IR heating systems are extremely efficient for many curing, drying, and melting applications. With our innovations in heating technology, we are able to meet the level of precision and control in a gas system that is typically reserved for electric systems.
Rapid heat up and cool down capabilities mean equipment does not have to be turned on prior to use, and our fuel to radiant output boasts the highest efficiency in the industry. These features add to the natural energy efficiency of gas systems and can result in significant savings over the life of the equipment.
In addition to straight infrared heating systems, convection heating capabilities can be added for curing parts with complex geometries or as a preheating step. This adds to the system's versatility and can increase part throughput for many applications.
Our expertise extends beyond the heating system itself to other related processes such as coating application and automated part handling. As a result, customers can see similar versions of their potential system operating in a real environment prior to fabrication. Since we are not tied to a specific heating technology or equipment brand, engineers are able to optimize systems based on a customer's specific process.
